Además de ser tan bonito, el apio rojo tiene un sabor más intenso que el apio verde. Redventure es un cruce de polinización abierta entre Giant Red y Ventura. Es más tierno y tiene mejor textura que el Giant Red, manteniendo su brillante coloración. Las plantas son muy resistentes al frío y a las enfermedades, y producen abundantes tallos grandes, tiernos y crujientes.
