OTROS: La ruda morada es una hierba perenne con flores, originaria de Estados Unidos y Canadá. En la naturaleza, crece típicamente en praderas húmedas, llanuras aluviales y en las orillas de arroyos y humedales. Prefiere suelos húmedos, pero puede crecer en condiciones de jardín normales con humedad media. La ruda morada también tolera suelos arenosos o rocosos. Es una planta dioica. Sus flores tienen panículas de 60 cm de largo, de color blanco cremoso y amarillo. La ruda morada recibe su nombre por sus tallos morados. Su follaje es delicado y muy bonito, así que no conviene taparlo por completo, pero, dado que puede alcanzar los 1,80 m de altura, recomiendo colocarla cerca de la última fila del jardín.
Las semillas y la planta son venenosas si se ingieren. No ingerir. Mantener fuera del alcance de niños y mascotas.

Con flores vellosas sobre tallos estrechos, se asemejan a un pincel de artista sobre una roseta basal de follaje verde azulado similar al de un helecho. En el jardín, atraen abejas y mariposas. También son una excelente flor fresca o seca de larga duración para arreglos florales. Estas plantas resistentes a los ciervos crecen bien en suelos arcillosos pesados. Originarias de los trópicos africanos, toleran muy bien el calor y la humedad, por lo que son una excelente opción para macetas que, sin querer, se olvidan de regar ocasionalmente. Estas anuales semi-resistentes también pueden resembrarse para obtener nuevas plantas al año siguiente.
