The bright red juicy Australian Raspberry is edible & delicious. The berries are sweet with a mild raspberry flavor & can be enjoyed fresh or made into syrups, jams, pies, & more. The fruit is a bit larger than the 'regular' raspberries we are used to seeing here in the US & measure 1 - 3 cm (about 3/4 - 1 1/4") in diameter.
Often referred to as a shrub, they are canes & can grow quickly to form dense thickets in suitable climates. They do take to pruning well if you wish to keep them more contained, or can even be grown in containers to prevent spread. The branches are thorned, but less so than most other types of raspberries. Their primary fruiting season is summer to fall, but they can produce year round in warmer climates.
We have 'regular' Red Raspberry & Black Raspberry seeds available, as well as oodles of other types of berry seeds!

This low-growing groundcover is one of the smallest mints. It only grows to about 1” tall with small leaves that measure only about 5mm (1/8”) long. Check out photo #3 to see a size comparison of Peppermint versus Corsican Mint. Blooming in shades of lilac to mauve, its flowers are proportionately sized, but will still attract pollinators like butterflies. Corsican Mint is very fragrant & has an aroma similar to Peppermint.
A “Walk on Me” plant, Corsican Mint is a perfect choice for growing between stepping stones or for edging walkways. This mint can grow in sandy or heavy clay soils, & is much more tolerant of shade & dry conditions than other mints. It is thought to be one of the best mints to grow as a companion for brassica plants like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. It repels certain pest insects, in part by obscuring the smell of the crop to be protected, and can also enhance the flavor of the crops. Its miniature size makes it perfect for fairy gardens, & it will also happily to grow in containers so is a great choice for a potted kitchen herb garden. Perennial down to zone 5, Corsican Mint will reseed itself for new plants the following year even in cooler climates.
Corsican Mint’s leaves are edible, & can be used raw in salads, as a garnish, made into an herbal tea, added to any cooked dishes for flavor, & is most well known as the flavoring in the liqueur crème de menthe. Additionally, this herb has many traditional medicinal uses, & a pepperminty essential oil is also extracted from the plant.

OTHER:
Douglas is an evergreen coniferous tree that is originally native to western North America, but has become naturalized in parts of Europe & South America. In spite of the common, Douglas is not actually a fir tree or a pine tree. These large trees typically reach heights of 60 – 80’ in cultivation, but are long-lived & can grow to heights of 120 – 160’ in their natural habitat. As the trees begin to reach soaring heights in dense forests, they lose their lower branches & the foliage may not start for 100’ up the trunk. Doug’s cones are a tan color & measure 2 ½ - 4” long. They are popular in crafts & decorations. These valuable trees have a large variety of uses besides winning Christmas.
Prized for their large size & straight trunks, the Douglas Fir is an important lumber tree, netting a larger amount of timber than any other North American tree. The wood is used in construction & for firewood.
Their beauty & adaptability has made them a popular choice for homes, parks, commercial sites, & they are even a popular bonsai specimen.
Douglas Firs provide valuable habitat to a wide variety of animal species including spotted owls, squirrels, & tree voles just to name a few. They are an important food source for many of our woodland friends too, from chipmunks & shrews who enjoy their seeds very much to grouse using their needles as their spring food source, & even porcupines for whom their bark is their primary source of food in the winter.
The bark, resin, & needles of the Douglas Fir all have traditional herbal medicinal uses.
The Douglas Fir has been one of the most popular types of Christmas Trees for over 100 years & remains a best seller today. They grow in a lovely pyramid shape naturally so don’t require much pruning to look their very best. Douglas Firs have a very full shape, so are great for larger spaces. The needles are soft & remain on the tree for about 4 weeks after having been cut. They have a fantastic fragrance that is fresh & clean, piney & woodsy, & sweet with hints of citrus.

They have a soft look with their feathery ferny foliage, but are very tough plants that can tolerate a variety of conditions. Being a desert native, they are at home in full sun, heat, drought, & sandy or rocky soil, but are also able to tolerate coastal conditions, pollution, & moist soil. Because they are legume, they can help fix nitrogen in the soil.
The Feather Tree is considered a large shrub to a small tree, & can be trained / pruned into your desired form & shape. They grow at a rate of about 2 feet per year, & are a popular ornamental & shade tree. The foliage is evergreen to partly deciduous with a ‘fall’ leaf color of bright golden yellow. The Feather Tree blooms in spring with clusters of white flower balls that turn to 4 - 6” long seed pods in the fall.

OTHER: The Fraser Fir is a native coniferous evergreen that hails from the Appalachian Mountains of the Southeastern United States. A close relative of the Balsam Fir, the two are quite similar. Fraser Firs have dense branching when they are of a young age, spreading as they age. They begin to produce their lovely 1 ½ - 2 ½” long by 1 – 1 ½” wide purple to brown cones once they reach a height of 7 – 10’ tall.
Fraser Firs are popular for home plantings, public spaces, & commercial spaces, commonly used both as specimen trees or rowed to form a windbreak. Sadly, these trees that play an important role in providing food & shelter for several types of rare animals are listed as an endangered species in the wild. (Our seeds are responsibly harvested.)
The Fraser Fir is one of the 4 most popular types of Christmas Trees for good reason! The trees naturally grow in a lovely pyramid shape so don’t require much pruning, & their dense branches full of soft dark blue-green needles with silvery undersides are very attractive. Importantly, they are able to retain their needles for a long time (typically 6 weeks or so) after being cut. Their slim form makes them a good fit for smaller spaces. They feature strong limbs with an upward curvature that hold ornaments well & won’t sag under the weight of allll those ornaments you can’t wait to lovingly smother it with. A close relative of the Balsam Fir, the Fraser Fir is quite fragrant, & its scent really is best described as “Christmas” – like Balsam - a bit like pine with woody, earthy tones, & a hint of citrus.
Fraser Firs have been used as the White House Christmas tree more than any other species, & is the tree chosen for the banquet hall at Biltmore. I myself cannot hear ‘Fraser Fir’ without thinking of Harold & Kumar :)

OTHER: The Ghost Pepper is native to India and is one of the world’s hottest peppers! It has an insane SHU rating of 1,000,000 Scoville Units. That is 400 times hotter than Tabasco Sauce! Ghost Peppers measure around 3 - 6” long by a little over 1” wide and typically weigh 7 - 9 grams. The plants themselves are rather large and almost tree-like. The green fruits turn from green to orange or red at maturity. They are used dried, pickled, and in salsas, chilis, and anything else you might want to add a ridiculous amount of spice to. You really must use caution when handling any parts of this plant including the plant, the seeds, and the fruit. This pepper is unbelievably hot! For that reason, insects and wild animals will not bother these plants so they are excellent companion plants.
If crazy hot peppers are your thing, check out our Carolina Reaper Pepper seeds!

OTHER: The Golden Currant is an ornamental shrub with edible fruit that is native to western North America. In spring, clusters of spicy vanilla scented flowers attract butterflies & HUMMINGBIRDS. The flowers are edible, & have a very sweet taste! This gourmet delicacy can be used as a desert or salad topping. (Or wear them in your hair for an on-the-go snack! Ha ha!)
The fruit is a berry called a Currant, & currants are about the same size as a blueberry. The fruit of this Currant starts out yellow & turns black at maturity. Currants can be eaten raw, made into jams & pies, or dried & stored for later use.
These shrubs tolerate most soil conditions including sandy or clay soil. Their water usage is extremely flexible. They can withstand drought or standing water! These properties make it an excellent choice for erosion control. The Currant Shrub also provides habitat for woodland creatures, & birds & other small animals will enjoy eating the seeds if you decide to share some. The berries do look stunning against the lovely orange to red fall leaves!
