OTHER: The Nutmeg Tree, or Pala, is a small tropical evergreen tree native to the "Spice Islands" of Indonesia. Myristica Fragrans is the main source of the spices nutmeg and mace. These plants prefer warm & humid conditions. The leaves are dark green & glossy, & the spring flowers are beautiful! The Nutmeg is also deliciously fragrant.
The Nutmeg fruit has a green exterior that splits open when it’s ripe, revealing its edible red pulp that is called Mace which is used as a spice. Inside the pulp of each fruit is 1 large 1 - 1 1/2" nutmeg seed. The Nutmeg seeds are called Nutmeg, a spice that is typically used ground or grated. Nutmeg is included in a huge number of dishes worldwide. It is very versatile, & is used for flavoring everything including meats, potatoes & other veggies, rice & soups, in beverages like Caribbean Rum Punch & as a drink topping, made into juice, candied or used in other deserts & baked goods & jams, & in Tortellini.
